Leland Martin pitches in on Truckers for Troops effort

| Wednesday, December 08, 2010

Anyone who calls tonight during the Land Line Now broadcast of OOIDA’s Truckers for Troops campaign could find the phone being answered by Leland Martin.

The country singer-songwriter will join the staff of OOIDA’s Membership Department from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Central Standard Time. He will be chatting with truckers calling to join the Association, renew their memberships, or just make donations to Truckers for Troops.

Martin has been a big supporter of Truckers for Troops, so much so that in 2009 he recorded the “Truckers for Troops” CD. He donates $5 from each sale of the CD to the OOIDA Truckers for Troops care package effort. The CD is available at truck stops or through LelandMartin.com.

Martin continued his support this year, even stepping it up a notch by coming to OOIDA headquarters to man the phones Wednesday night and help out with the Land Line Now broadcast for Thursday night.

Anyone wanting to join OOIDA or donate to Truckers for Troops – and maybe even talk with Leland – can call in during regular business hours at 800-444-5791. Also, throughout the week, members from OOIDA’s switchboard and membership departments – along with other volunteers from around the Association – will be on hand through the airing of Land Line Now until 7:30 p.m. CST.

Truckers can also mail in the dues and/or donations to:
OOIDA Truckers for Troops
P.O. Box 1000
Grain Valley, MO 64029

Please note on the check whether the payment is for dues, dues and donation, or donation and indicate “Troops” on the memo line.

You can also join or donate online through the OOIDA website.

To keep up with OOIDA’s 2010 Truckers for Troops campaign, you can tune in nightly to Land Line Now from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. CST; watch for updates on OOIDA.com, landlinemag.com and landlinenow.com; and catch updates as well as behind the scenes photos and videos on YouTube and Facebook.
