October in California? Wow. Your excuse to go there? The Golden State Truck Expo is scheduled for Oct. 16-17 at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA.

The show is formerly known as the Truck Show Latino. Show manager Roger Sherrard says the show is for all truckers – hence the name change. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17.

The “Best of the West” truck show competition will again be sponsored by 10-4 Magazine. Space is limited, bobtail only. The entry fee is $75. To guarantee a spot, show management suggests competitors register soon. For additional truck beauty show information, call Bud Farquhar at 203-226-6066.

Be sure to visit the booth of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association to meet OOIDA people and get information on the benefits of membership. You can join OOIDA at the show for a special rate of $25.

Representatives from First Observer will be on hand, offering information on the program and training material. First Observer is a highway security program, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Administration and administered by the Transportation Security Administration. Its mission is to promote the security of our critical infrastructure within the United States by training people to observe, assess and report risks and security breaches. OOIDA is a partner in this program.
