CARB fines produce company $32,000 over lack of reefer reports

| Wednesday, March 31, 2010

The California Air Resources Board has fined one Sacramento-area produce company $32,000 for not filing state-required reefer reports.

NorCal Produce will pay $32,550 after a CARB investigation showed the produce company failed to submit TRU reports required of in-state businesses that use reefers, which CARB calls transportation refrigeration units.

NorCal will complete heavy-duty diesel engine software and control technology upgrades, supply all smoke inspection records to CARB for the next four years, and label engines to ensure compliance with the state’s engine emissions certification program regulation.

$24,114 of the fine will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, and the remaining $8,137 will go to the Peralta Community College District to fund diesel education classes.
