Kenworth made a big splash this week at the Mid-America Trucking Show by unveiling the new T700 – a truck being touted as the most fuel-efficient long-hauler to date.

Land Line Magazine Senior Editor Jami Jones writes about – and State Legislative Editor Keith Goble provides video images from – the rollout event in their blog entry titled “Just smoke, no mirrors.”

Their must-see blog entry is part of The Pork Chop Diaries – exclusive wall-to-wall coverage from Louisville by Land Line Magazine and Land Line Now.

Thursday, March 25, was opening day for the public at MATS, following media day and numerous product rollouts on Wednesday.

For many, the truck show is a great indicator of how things are going out there, and the economy comes to mind.

Land Line Managing Editor Sandi Soendker tells us that Daimler Trucks North America, the company that manufactures Freightliner, is seeing some positive economic signs, but a full recovery may still be years away. Click here to read more about Daimler’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Next, Land Line Now Senior Correspondent Terry Scruton meets and interviews Jazzy Jordan, the 17-year-old daughter of OOIDA members Lee and Paulette Jordan, who is running coast to coast to raise money and awareness for the St. Christopher Truckers Development & Relief Fund.

Jazzy’s “thousand watt smile” is contagious. Click here to read more about Jazzy and others who are achieving celebrity status at the show.

Idle reduction is getting its share of attention as fuel prices continue to climb higher.

ThermoKing has rolled out a new battery-powered system called the TriPacE Electric APU.
Bill Hudgins writes about it in his blog entry.

MATS runs through Saturday at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.
