Trucker killed in Tennessee

Local and state officials in Murfreesboro, TN, are still investigating the death of a trucker who was killed Wednesday, March 17, when a 5,000-pound steel coil fell on him.

The Tennessean reported that 49-year-old Victor Ray Chipman, a driver for Roane Transport of Rockwood, TN, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred at a company called Steel Technologies, which processes flat-rolled steel products for a number of industries. A crane operator was trying to put the coil on Chipman’s flatbed.

Authorities have not yet given any indication of exactly what went wrong.
