Hours of service waived

| 1/11/2010

With the deep South in the deep freeze, other states are joining Florida in waiving the hours-of-service rules for truckers.

In Florida, where substantial damage to citrus and vegetable crops was reported over the weekend, driving time was extended to 14 hours in hopes of getting crops out of the fields and orchards quickly.

Virginia, North Carolina, Missouri and Mississippi are also waiving the rules – not to get crops in, but to make sure fuel and road treatment chemicals can be delivered.
