OOIDA, Volvo, recognize drivers for safe driving records

OOIDA recently announced honorees in the Association’s Safe Driving Award program. The following drivers have been recognized by the Association and program sponsor Volvo Trucks North America for truck driving excellence:

  • Samuel “Duke” Holder of Park Forest, IL, has been recognized for 40 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls chemicals.
  • Paul Jones of South Plainfield, NJ, has been recognized for 38 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls general commodities.
  • Donald W. Raup of Milton, PA, has been recognized for 34 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls general freight.
  • Walter J. Krupski Jr. of Stewartsville, NJ, has been recognized for 33 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls general freight.
  • Marion Crafts of Bend, OR, has been recognized for 26 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls power sports equipment such as motorcycles, wave runners and quads.
  • Wayne Wideman of Laughlin, NV, has been recognized for 25 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls oversize loads, heavy equipment, lumber, brick and other general freight.
  • Anne M. Wallace of Mount Holly, NJ, has been recognized for 23 years of safe, accident-free driving. She currently hauls general commodities.
  • Elijah Nicholson of Baltimore, MD, has been recognized for 20 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls oversize loads and heavy machinery.
  • Charles A. Evans of Evansville, IN, has been recognized for 16 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls aluminum.
  • Scott Mason of Judsonia, AR, has been recognized for 11 years of safe, accident-free driving.
  • Bruce M. Banwell of Eagle Grove, IA, has been recognized for 10 years of safe, accident-free driving. He has been driving professionally since 1960. On Nov. 20, 2009, Bruce will make his final run hauling general freight. He has decided to retire for a second time.
  • Sunny Ramen of Jersey City, NJ, has been recognized for 10 years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls general freight.
  • James O. Hale of Trinity, TX, has been recognized for nine years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls general freight.
  • Kevin L. Ross of Huntingdon, PA, has been recognized for two years of safe, accident-free driving. He currently hauls air freight.

The OOIDA Safe Driving Award Program is designed to recognize and reward OOIDA members for their safe, accident-free years while operating a commercial vehicle. Safe driving awards are available to all eligible OOIDA members who qualify based on the number of years for which the member has operated a commercial vehicle without being involved in a preventable accident.

The program is sponsored by Volvo Trucks North America.
