St. Ignace show runs through Saturday

| Friday, September 18, 2009

The 14th Annual Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show is underway and will continue through Sunday after it culminates Saturday evening with one of the coolest closing events of any truck show.

The “Parade of Lights” will start at dusk on Saturday with trucks lining up to cross the breathtaking Mackinac Straits Bridge that links Michigan’s Upper Peninsula to “downstate.” The breath-taking spectacle is sponsored by Land Line Magazine columnist Bill Hudgins and his wife Wilda Dodson.

This year’s show, sponsored as always by the National Association of Show Trucks, will pay honor to a handful of members near and dear to the show truck community who have passed away in recent months.

Those to be recognized include:

  • Gina Kemner Clarke, a founding member of NAST, who died on Feb. 26, 2009, just four days after her 60th birthday;
  • Bette Garber, truck photographer extraordinaire, who died Nov. 13, 2008;
  • Bobby Lindamood, who passed away on June 22; and
  • Bill Morgan, who passed away June 24.

The Memorial will be throughout the weekend with the tribute at the awards ceremony Sunday.
