Scam alert for Ohio trucking businesses

| Monday, March 02, 2009

OOIDA’s Business Assistance Department is advising small business truckers to be on the lookout for a letter pushing an unneeded service.

Doreen Weakley of OOIDA’s Permitting and Licensing team said trucking businesses should be wary of any mailings from an entity that calls itself “Ohio Corporate Compliance.”

The bogus letter is urging corporations to use its services to report and file their corporate minutes with the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office. The asking fee is $150. Weakley said this filing is not required in Ohio.

According to the Web site of Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, this is a hoax that has been making its way around Ohio.
