Prepare to be dazzled: MATS show truck competition

| Friday, February 20, 2009

The Mid-America Trucking Show, MATS for short, runs March 19 through 21 at the Kentucky Expo Center and Fairgrounds in Louisville. The truck show is famous worldwide for the array of knockout trucks that come to compete.

The 20th Annual Paul K. Young Memorial Truck Beauty Championship kicks off the show season with rows of stunning entries all vying for honors in one of the nation’s premier truck beauty shows. The event, which has become a star attraction at the Mid-America Trucking Show, celebrates North America’s heavy-duty, working show trucks.

This year’s competition will be held in Lot J, located behind the West Wing.

Another MATS favorite is the Fifth Annual Mid-America Big Rig Build-Off. This year three teams from across the nation combine their craft and skill to design extraordinary trucks. Now in its fifth year, it is the ultimate contest of custom truck building for heavy-duty trucking. Recognized as the only contest of its kind, it’s exclusive to the Mid-America Trucking Show as part of the Paul K. Young Memorial Truck Beauty Championship.

Another event featuring eye-popping trucks is the National Association of Show Trucks Truck-Lite Championship. Each year, NAST teams up with Truck-Lite for the NAST/Truck-Lite Trophy Series. Finalists will compete for the championship in Louisville. This year, awards are scheduled for March 19 in Room C104. The NAST booth is No. 91450 outside the main exhibit hall.
