Five tractors destroyed by fire at Ottumwa, IA, trucking firm

| Monday, January 05, 2009

The owner of a trucking company just outside Ottumwa, IA, says he considers a fire Saturday night, Jan. 3, that destroyed four tractors and damaged a fifth to be “pretty suspicious.”

However, Hite Trucking Co. owner Steve Hite told Reed Black on Land Line Now he’ll wait for the state fire marshal’s report before reaching any conclusions.

Hite says the five tractors were parked side-by-side in the lot because he had run out of room in the building where he houses other trucks.

Hite Trucking is a reefer operation with about 32 trucks and has been in operation for more than 20 years.
