In Ontario, the traffic situation could get interesting on eastbound Highway 401 near Toronto Friday, Dec. 19. A group of truckers is forming a convoy to protest mandatory speed limiters, and the forecast is calling for a major snowstorm overnight.

The Waterloo Record reported that Scott Mooney, the owner-operator and OOIDA member who organized the protest, doesn't know how many of the 170 people who registered in a "protest speed limiter" group on Facebook will arrive with trucks, but he expects at least 30 to 40.

The participants are scheduled to meet in Ayr at 7 a.m. and head east for Toronto on the 401 around 9 a.m.

The London Free Press spoke with Mooney, who said that the protest will be canceled if the snow is heavy. He said that the start time was picked so morning commuters wouldn’t be held up getting to work.
