Weekend fatality shocks show truck community

| Monday, November 24, 2008

A one-vehicle wreck Sunday evening, Nov. 23, claimed the life of an OOIDA member whose black and red ghost-flamed Peterbilt was recognized as among the nation’s hottest custom semis.

Jake Eilen, 27, was killed on Minnesota State Highway 50 near his home town of Hampton, MN. He was driving his pickup. According to Minnesota State Patrol, the investigation is ongoing.

Eilen was an OOIDA member since 2003 and well known in the trucking industry for his distinctive show trucks. The trucks, which Eilen & Sons Trucking pull in and out of quarries and such on a daily basis, were always meticulously well kept and innovative.

His wife Anne and one child, Jaden, survive him.
