Recently in Minnesota, Gov. Tim Pawlenty signed an emergency order waiving hours-of-service regulations for truckers hauling diesel, propane or ammonia fertilizer for agricultural purposes.
Agri-News reported that a late start on planting and heavy rains delayed the harvest and that farmers, particularly corn farmers, are now racing against the clock to get their crops in before winter. As of Oct. 26 only 30 percent of the corn crop had been harvested.
The emergency order is in effect, but is scheduled to expire at midnight Nov. 22.
