Quiet! It’s time for the 2008 Silent Quilt Auction

| Friday, September 12, 2008

The OOIDA Scholarship Committee is once again offering members and drivers everywhere a chance to bid on a neat quilt, plus contribute to the OOIDA Scholarship Fund.

“This year a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, patriotic queen-sized quilt, pieced by Sue Lynch, OOIDA member and quilting enthusiast, is being offered through silent auction,” said OOIDA’s Kathy Gaines. The quilt is machine-quilted by Linda Cohron, a friend of the Association.

Gaines said the auction in now in full swing and goes until noon Central Daylight Time Oct. 3. The winner will be contacted by 2 p.m. that day.

This past year was the first year for the silent quilt auction, one of the ways OOIDA raises money for its scholarship fund. The winning bid was a whopping $600 from an OOIDA member from Louisiana. This year, the Scholarship Committee is hoping to surpass that bid.

If you are interested in bidding, stop by the OOIDA corporate headquarters in Grain Valley, MO, and see it in person. Or, you can see the quilt online and see rules for bidding by clicking here.

Bids may be placed online or by calling the OOIDA office at 800-715-9369, Ext. 1644.

All proceeds from the silent auction will go to the OOIDA Scholarship Fund. Each year five scholarships – one $2,000 and four $1,000 – are awarded to young adults seeking assistance with college or technical school tuition. Recipients must be children or dependents of OOIDA members.
