Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions and Continental Tire North America Inc. both have raised the price of their truck tire offerings in North America.

In late August, truckers buying tires from the Bandag line paid up to 6 percent more. Continental’s price increase of as much as 10 percent is scheduled to kick in Oct. 1. It marks the second price increase announced by Continental in 2008.

Both manufacturers blamed the need to raise tire prices on the cost of raw materials.

An increase of 5 percent is effective for new orders booked on or after Oct. 1, 2008. An additional increase ranging from 3 percent to 5 percent to is scheduled to become effective Jan. 1, 2009.
