Maverick USA Inc. has completed its first year of equipping fleet operations with nearly 1,000 integrated vehicle tire pressure monitoring systems and wide-base tires.

Mike Jeffress, vice president of maintenance at the Little Rock, AR, trucking company, discussed how the rapidly rising fuel prices have affected maintenance practices and have caused company officials to look for innovative ways to lower operating costs. He said the conversion of the fleet to the WABCO’s IVTM tire pressure-monitoring systems has resulted in significantly improved fuel efficiency.

“Now we see positive results such as higher mileage-per-gallon, reduced tire damage, longer tire life, lower maintenance cost and less downtime,” said Jeffress.
