CARB schedules hearings for new truck engine rule

| Thursday, July 03, 2008

The California Air Resources Board has planned several upcoming public workshops to discuss “technical methodologies” of its ever-changing, in-use, on-road, heavy-duty diesel truck rule.

The proposed rule would essentially require 1.5 million trucks to meet 2007 emission standards by the year 2012 – although several other regulatory possibilities are also proposed.

The agency’s board plans to consider formally approving the regulation in October.

The meetings are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on:

  • Tuesday, July 8, at the Fresno County Plaza Ballroom, located at 2220 Tulare St., Fresno CA,
  • Friday, July 11, at the Air Resources Board Auditorium, Annex 4 at 9530 Telstar Ave., El Monte, CA, and
  • Monday, July 14, at the Air Resources Board’s Byron Sher Auditorium, 1001 I St., Sacramento, CA.

CARB made several changes to its proposed plan in May. To view the 51-page revised proposed in-use, on-road truck rule, click here.
