Double crashes send trucker to hospital

| 11/6/2007

In Alabama, a trucker was involved in two crashes in rapid succession early Monday, Nov. 5.

The Clanton Advertiser reports the truck was on Interstate 65 near Clanton, AL, when it went off the highway, down an embankment and crashed into a bridge piling.

The trailer – which had come to rest on railroad tracks – was then hit by a freight train. The driver, whose name wasn’t given, was airlifted to a hospital.

The interstate was shut down in both directions for a short time.
