Speed limiter proponent moved to non-transportation post

| 10/31/2007

One of the leading proponents of speed limiters in the Canadian province of Ontario has been moved out of the post of minister of transportation and reassigned to natural resources.

Truck News reports that Donna Cansfield, who supported a 105 kilometer per hour – or 65 mph – cap on heavy trucks, was moved as part of a shuffle in Premier Dalton McGuinty’s cabinet.

Her replacement as transport minister is Jim Bradley, who had been minister of tourism.

No word yet on Bradley’s position on speed limiters.
