A memorial service for Land Line Magazine columnist Peter Hoffman Rigney is planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at Christ’s Church in Martinsville, VA. Pete died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, VA.
Born on Oct. 1, 1926, in New York City, he was the son of the late Francis Joseph Rigney and Ella Hoffman Rigney. Pete is survived by: his wife, Shirley M. Rigney of the home; one daughter, Dawn Geible of Holiday, FL; two sons, Michael Rigney of Manhattan, NY, and Peter H. Rigney Jr. of Florida; two step-daughters, Dixie Martin of Silver Spring, FL, and Claudia Setty of Ocala, FL; three step-sons, Richard Martin of Coleman, FL, Michael Martin and Mark Martin both of Belleview, FL; one brother, Dr. Francis Rigney of San Francisco, CA; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
