Laughter and a few tears on this week’s

| Friday, October 12, 2007

It was a week of reflection, wit and even a bit of sadness this week on the Land Line Media Blog.

On Monday, Staff Writer David Tanner commented on the approaching winter season and the treacherous weather it brings with it. You may not have heard the term “grayout” before, but in Tanner’s words, you’ve no doubt driven through one.

Columnist Bill Hudgins introduced us to the iRobot ConnectR on Wednesday. This high-tech gizmo is similar to the company’s famed Roomba robotic vacuum, except instead of vacuuming, it’s equipped with a video camera and speakers to keep people connected over long distances. Could this be the next big thing for long-haul truckers with families back home?

The week ended on a sad note, with Staff Writer Charlie Morasch commenting on the life of OOIDA member David “Rusty Nail” Broyles. Broyles, who had been battling cancer for some time, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 11.

“I instantly recognized why David had so many friends in the trucking industry,” Morasch wrote in his blog entry. “David’s positive outlook on life was powerful because it was carried by a voice that offered no BS. Nothing but honest and direct speech.”
