Chrysler strike ends quickly

| 10/12/2007

A six-hour strike by UAW workers against Chrysler ended Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 10, when a tentative contract agreement was announced.

The Wall Street Journal reports that – similar to a recent GM agreement – the deal calls for Chrysler to create a multi-billion-dollar trust fund to cover the health care costs of retirees.

And, like the GM accord, it allows the company to give new workers much lower wages and benefits than current union members get.
