In the chase for the 2007 Truck-Lite Trophy title, several truckers are on tap to strut their stuff at the showdown scheduled at the 2008 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY, in March 2008.

Rick Hitchcock and his wife, Jennifer, of Webberville, MI, were the first qualifiers to compete for the 2007 Truck-Lite Trophy title. Rick’s 2005 Peterbilt took Best of Show – Bobtail and qualified for the chase at the Fourth Annual Great Lakes Truck Show held in Tecumseh, MI, May 18-20.

OOIDA member Gerald Kissinger of Stoughton, WI, qualified for the finals at the Road America “Concours d’Elegance” held in May in Elkhart Lake, WI. Gerald’s 1994 Mack and Great Dane trailer also took Best of Show – Working Combo at Road America.

The third qualifier was a 1985 Peterbilt owned by Jeremy Hassevoort of Hamilton, MI. Jeremy earned his slot in the finals at the West Michigan Truck Show and Industry Expo where he also picked up Best of Show – Working Combo honors.

Joseph Schmitt of Brillion, WI, joined the tough competition for the 2007 end of the year award when his 2003 Kenworth and Great Dane reefer were selected at the Indy Air Show qualifier held in August in Indianapolis, IN.

Their 2005 Peterbilt with Great Dane Reefer Van turned heads, got the judge’s attention and earned enough points for OOIDA members Ron and Carol Commissaris of Sparta, MI, to compete for the coveted Truck-Lite Trophy.

As of press time, two more qualifiers for the season finale competition were yet to be named.
