Florida DOT offers transportation workshop

| Thursday, October 04, 2007

The Florida Department of Transportation is planning a special workshop about commercial vehicle operations and their relationship with traffic engineering, transportation operations and planning personnel.

This workshop is designed to help the planning professionals to understand how their jobs impact the freight community both positively and negatively.

The workshop includes discussions on technologies including operations, safety and security, integration with traffic engineering and planning, and issues involved with emergency evacuations and planning for special events such as the Super Bowl.

This workshop is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 22-23, in Tampa, FL. The Monday session will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Tuesday session will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., concluding with a site visit that afternoon.

The workshop is scheduled at the Embassy Suites/USF Busch Gardens, Tampa, FL. There is an $85 fee being charged for this event. Included in the fee are snacks, lunch and cost of transportation to the sites.

DOT officials say OOIDA members will be given adequate time to voice their comments and concerns to FDOT personnel.
