Private toll road proposed in Maine

A businessman in Maine is pitching the idea of a privately built toll road that would link the state with Quebec on the west and New Brunswick on the east.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Peter Vigue, president of Cianbro Corp. – a large construction company – also says he has received assurances from a New York bank that private funding would be available.

Vigue said the state couldn’t build such a highway because it can’t afford to purchase right-of-way or pay for construction.
