Nation’s largest biodiesel plant opens for business

The largest biodiesel plant in the country opened its doors in Grays Harbor, WA, earlier this week.

According to the National Biodiesel Board, the plant, which is owned by Imperium Renewables, has a capacity of 100 million gallons of biodiesel a year.

In a press release, the board said there are now 148 operating biodiesel plants throughout the U.S. The average plant size is about 9.5 million gallons per year.

Biodiesel production in the U.S. is expected to exceed 300 million gallons in 2007, according to the board.
