California’s next step: low-carbon fuel?

| Wednesday, June 13, 2007

The California Air Resources Board is expected to soon issue regulations for new kinds of fuels – diesel and gasoline that will have lower carbon content than today’s versions.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced in January that he wants to see a 10-percent reduction in the carbon intensity of fuels by the year 2020.

Ten other states and four Canadian provinces say they’ll adopt the same standards, and presidential hopeful Barack Obama has said he wants the whole country to adopt the new standard.
