ATA reports tonnage is up

| Wednesday, May 02, 2007

The total number of tons of freight moved by truck in March was up slightly compared to a year ago, according to the American Trucking Association.

And, the total tonnage in the first three months of 2007 was up, compared to the same period last year.

An ATA economist said in a press release that the numbers bode well for the trucking industry – but cautions that there could still be some slowdowns in the months ahead.

The ATA’s truck tonnage index is based on voluntary information provided by a sampling of its members.
