Scares in the Middle East caused the national average price
of diesel fuel to shoot up 3 cents overnight, from $2.70 per gallon on Tuesday
to $2.73 on Wednesday, according to ProMiles.
Crude oil prices also jumped by about $2 a barrel to a
little more than $64 a barrel on Wednesday, March 28.
The Associated Press reports that oil prices spiked
as much as $5 a barrel following apparently unfounded reports that the Iranians
had fired a missile at a U.S. ship.
