Lawsuits flying over proposed Detroit-Windsor bridge

| Tuesday, February 13, 2007

Ambassador Bridge owner Mattie Moroun's company is suing a law firm that used to work for it, for allegedly working with the city of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to derail Moroun's plan to build a new bridge beside an existing one.

An attorney with the law firm told The Toronto Star the lawsuit is just an attempt at intimidation.

Meanwhile, Michigan officials have begun testing the bedrock at the site of a proposed new bridge that would connect Detroit and Windsor.

That toll bridge, which could end up being built and operated privately, is a competing plan to Moroun's proposal, the Star reported.
