Reopened New York truck stop brings back 111 truck parking spots

| Monday, February 12, 2007

There's some good news for those searching for truck parking in the Binghamton, NY, area.

TravelCenters of America has reopened its Binghamton location on Interstate 81, after it was forced to close in June 2006 because of flood damage. A grand reopening is scheduled this week, Feb. 12-18.

A spokeswoman for TA told Land Line the stop has 111 truck parking spots, and that all of the spots were unavailable during the renovation.

Although some amenities have been added to the truck stop, no additional parking spaces have been added, the spokeswoman said.

According to a 2002 study by the Federal Highway Administration, New York ranks 32nd out of 49 participating states in terms of commercial parking availability.
