New device promises to remove trailer snow, ice

A company in Quebec, Canada, has come up with a new kind of snow and ice remover for trucks' trailers.

The device, called a "Yeti," features a large, metal framework that the truck drives slowly through as a three-stage snow blower goes to work on the trailer roof.

David Russell, marketing director for Mire Equipment, told "Land Line Now" on XM Satellite Radio that the combination of a metal auger, a rubber auger and a broom remove ice as well as snow.

Russell said that so far, the company's buyers have primarily been trucking companies - ones that are willing to pay the device's $58,000 asking price.
