Bond denied for would-be trucker

A federal judge has denied bond for a 28-year-old man from India who told officials at a Rhode Island truck driving school he was enrolled in that he only wanted to learn how to drive a truck forwards - not backwards - and wanted to learn as much as he could about hazmat.

According to The Providence Journal, the bond was denied because Mohammed Mullawala allegedly lied to investigators about his travel and activities since he arrived in the U.S. five years ago.

Mullawala has been held in federal detention for allegedly violating the provisions of his student visa, the Journal reported.
