Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-MA, is seeking a Medicare-style
universal health care plan for all Americans, according to The Associated Press.
Kennedy serves as chairman of the Senate
Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, which deals with health
issues, is having hearings on the issue.
A 2006 survey by the OOIDA Foundation found that one-third
of the respondents have no health care coverage. Another 22 percent said they
were covered by their spouse's policy.
