Jurors in Tyrone Williams case take five-day break

| 1/11/2007

Former trucker Tyrone Williams won't know until next week at the earliest whether he'll get the death penalty or prison time.

According to media reports, the Houston jury that's deciding his fate is taking a five-day break.

Before the hiatus, they'd deliberated 19 hours without reaching a decision. And, because the judge will be out of town Thursday and Friday, and Monday is the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday - they won't reconvene until Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Williams was convicted of transporting a truckload of illegal aliens in 2003, 19 of whom died after being abandoned in his overheated trailer.
