The FMCSA's long-awaited proposal on the use of electronic
on-board recorders is scheduled to be announced during a teleconference with
reporters Thursday morning, Jan. 11.
The recorders - often referred to by drivers as "black
boxes" - are designed to document a driver's hours-of-service compliance.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's? proposed rule could range all the way from
urging voluntary use of the devices, to mandating their use.
Tune in to "Land Line Now" on XM Satellite Radio Thursday to
hear the teleconference. Follow-up analysis and news will be available on "Land
Line Now" and landlinemag.com.
