Williams' sentencing expected very soon

| Monday, January 08, 2007

Closing arguments were expected Monday, Jan. 8, in the sentencing phase of the heavily publicized Tyrone Williams trial in Houston.

After arguments end, it will be up to the jury to decide whether the former trucker will get the death penalty, or imprisonment up to a life sentence.

Williams was convicted last month on 58 counts of conspiracy and transporting immigrants. In 2003, 19 illegal immigrants died after being left in the trailer of his truck during a smuggling attempt.
