OOIDA announces dates for next business seminar

In October 2006, OOIDA partnered with a community college in the Kansas City area and offered a three-day seminar on the business aspects of trucking. Twenty attendees earned certificates of completion. This week, OOIDA's Tom Weakley announced the Association is ready to do it again.

The next seminar is scheduled for March 6-8 at the Blue River Community College campus in Blue Springs, MO. Subjects covered will include everything from what insurance to carry to how to do your taxes. The topic curriculum is primarily managed by Weakley, who is the OOIDA Foundation Operations Director. He said students will also get instruction from an experienced group of professionals from OOIDA's Business Services Department.

"Being able to learn and ask questions of the experts who deal with the issues on a daily basis added credibility and value to the seminar," Weakley said. "One of the most unique features of the seminar is the ability to bring in professionals from other departments within OOIDA that have a wealth of practical and useful information."

The graduates of the seminar in their reviews listed those professionals' presentations as some of the most beneficial aspects of their learning experiences.

For more information on the seminar, fees and how to register, call Clare Roberts, the community relations manager for Blue River Community College, at (816) 220-6518.
