Company, friends ask for help in finding missing trucker

Long-time company driver Rick McGhie hasn’t been heard from since early Sunday morning, and his company and friends are worried.

“This isn’t like him at all,” Tracy Zielinski said. “It’s not like him to ever miss a load.”

McGhie, 47, was last seen Saturday evening when he went out with a friend in Westland, MI, in the Detroit area.

“He was going to sleep in the truck and pick up his trailer,” she said.

McGhie is approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall, stocky built with clean-cut salt-and-pepper hair. He drives a flat gray 1993 Freightliner, with R&J Transport, West Brach, MI, in white letters on the door. He left his trailer in a parking lot commonly used by truckers in Westland, MI.

He is accompanied by a gray wire-haired terrier, Pepper.

McGhie doesn’t have any family to speak of. Friends have been calling area hospitals and police departments and have yet to find any report of McGhie or his truck. The Michigan State Police are looking into the matter.

Anyone with information is asked to call (989) 755-3274 ext. 35.
