Williams sentencing delayed by lawyer's illness

| Thursday, December 07, 2006

In Houston, TX, the sentencing phase in the Tyrone Williams case has been delayed until Friday after Williams' attorney sought medical care because of what he described as "excruciating pain."

A jury convicted Williams last week on 58 counts for his role in a 2003 smuggling operation in which 19 illegal immigrants died after being left in the overheated trailer of his truck.

On Friday, the jury will consider whether Williams should face life in prison or the death penalty.
