APU loan money available for Delaware, Pennsylvania truckers

For truckers living in Delaware or Pennsylvania, there may be an opportunity to snag some financial assistance to help pay for anti-idling technology.

On Friday, Dec. 1, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Air Management Association announced the program - known as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Small Business Anti-Idling Initiative - that will provide funding to help independent truckers and small trucking companies in the two states purchase an auxiliary power unit.

To qualify, participants must be domiciled and pay taxes in either Pennsylvania or Delaware, and must be able to prove that they are commercially licensed by either Pennsylvania or Delaware. The applicant must be a business enterprise that has no more than 50 vehicles in its truck fleet.

If an applicant is awarded funding, he or she must first purchase the APU, and will then be reimbursed for up to $3,000 of the purchase and/or installation cost.
