A Houston jury Monday, Dec. 11, found former trucker Tyrone Williams guilty on 58 counts for his role in the deadliest smuggling operation in U.S. history.

The jury must now decide whether Williams will be put to death.

Williams was accused of transporting more than 70 illegal immigrants in his tractor-trailer in a 2003 smuggling attempt from south Texas to Houston.

Nineteen of the immigrants died from dehydration, suffocation or overheating after they were left in the hot, nearly air-tight trailer.
