National diesel price steady

The national average price for a gallon of diesel fuel didn't change significantly, but some individual regions reported fluctuations.

Diesel averaged $2.553 for the week ending Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, just 0.1 cents higher than last week's average of $2.552.

Four of the nine regions reporting to the Energy Information Administration showed increases in fuel prices, while five regions reported decreases.

The biggest increase was in the Rocky Mountain region, where diesel rose 2.4 cents from $2.623 to $2.647.

California diesel increased 1.3 cents to $2.690 and the West Coast region reported an increase of 0.51 cents to $2.724.

The Lower Atlantic region reported the biggest decrease, 1.2 cents, from $2.473 to $2.461.

Diesel in the East Coast region decreased 0.9 cents to $2.521, while the Central Atlantic region reported a 0.05-cent decrease to $2.638.

The New England region reported a 0.9-cent increase from $2.616 to $2.625.

In the Midwest region, diesel was down 0.8 cents to $2.554, and the Gulf Coast region reported a decrease of 0.1 cents to $2.469.
