Massachusetts FedEx workers vote for Teamsters

FedEx home delivery drivers at two Wilmington, MA, sites have voted to join the Teamsters - and union leaders say the vote could pave the way to more organizing at FedEx.

"We've finally infiltrated FedEx with a solid victory," a Teamster official told The Boston Globe.

A FedEx spokesman says the company will challenge the election, citing alleged "objectionable conduct" by the Teamsters, The Globe reported. If that challenge is unsuccessful, a total of 32 FedEx drivers at the two locations will become part of the union.

Unions have lost 44 out of 46 election votes by FedEx drivers over the years. In the two elections they won, the unions were unable to negotiate contracts. FedEx has about 15,000 drivers in North America.
