Alberta, Canada, to keep old HOS rules

| Friday, November 10, 2006

While new hours of service will take effect soon for truckers who drive between provinces in Canada, officials in the province of Alberta announced plans to keep the current HOS rules for those who drive only within the province.

Among other things, Canada's new federal rules will cut driving time from 16 to 13 hours and increase the minimum off-duty time from eight to 10 hours.

The federal rules for inter-province truckers take effect Jan. 1, 2007.
