Trucker dies in crash with Amtrak train

Investigators in Tampa, FL, are trying to figure out what caused Wednesday's train-truck wreck that killed a 45-year-old trucker.

According to The Associated Press, an Amtrak train carrying 89 people hit the tractor-trailer at an industrial rail crossing in the early afternoon Wednesday on a clear day.

The train didn't derail, and none of the passengers were seriously hurt. But the truck - which was hauling scrap metal - caught fire and was destroyed.

The truck driver, Henry James Montgomery of Tampa, FL, was declared dead at the scene.

The crossing had warning lights and a gate. Investigators are checking to see if they were working at the time of the crash.
