State and federal officials Wednesday conducted what’s being described as the largest Homeland Security inspection operation ever to take place in Tennessee – or any other state, for that matter.

Called “Operation STOP,” it focused on hazmat and container cargo loads at 17 checkpoints on Interstate 81 At some checkpoints, all heavy trucks were pulled over.

Inspectors used radiation detectors and bomb-sniffing dogs to check hundreds of hazmat and container loads, but found nothing unusual.
