Quebec to dismantle second overpass

Officials in Quebec said they will dismantle a second overpass that’s located near the one that collapsed Sept. 30 in a Montreal suburb, killing five people.

According to Canadian press reports, inspectors didn’t find any specific safety problems with the second overpass – which is at de Blois Boulevard in Laval – but say it was built by the same company and with the same materials and design as the de la Concorde Boulevard overpass.

Inspectors had closed 19 other bridges and overpasses in the province, but all have been declared good and reopened, according to The Vancouver Sun.
