Bomb threats continue at Indiana Flying J

| Monday, October 09, 2006

For the fourth time in less than three months, a Flying J in Indiana was the scene of a bomb threat Sunday.

The threat was made at the Flying J near Spiceland, which is located south of Muncie on Interstate 70.

According to the Muncie Star Press, a man with a foreign accent called police from a pay phone at the truck stop Sunday morning, saying there was a bomb and that “many people were going to die.”

The bomb squad found a brown box and a pipe with wires running from it near a fuel pump, the Star Press reported. The device was detonated, causing what was described as a “small” explosion.

Sunday’s incident was the second time since August that an actual device has been found and detonated. On two other occasions, a bomb threat was made but no device was found.
